[SPORT] NFF brokers peace in Football Supporters Club

Peace seems to be returning to the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, NFSC which have been embroiled in leadership tussle recently leading to their ban by the Nigeria Football Federation, from joining the delegation that went to Ndola, Zambia to cheer the Super Eagles to victory over the Chipolopolo a fortnight ago. This follows a truce meeting called by the NFF leadership last Friday in Abuja to discuss issues leading to the in-fighting and factionalisation of the once vibrant Supporters Club which have variously been commended and given award by world football governing body, FIFA. According to a Communique issued at the Reconciliation meeting of the club mediated by the NFF, the current President General of the Club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo and his deputy, Alhaji Aderenle Yusuf are expected to vacate office in July next year to allow for a fresh election into their positions. This will be preceded by the election into the National Executive Committee scheduled to hold on December 10, 2016 as agreed to by the truce meeting which equally said that the Chairman of the NFSC, Dr. Ladipo in conjunction with the NFF Reconciliation Committee will co-ordinate the election. In an effort to stem the incessant struggle for power by members, the truce committee agreed that the Constitution of the club should be amended “to be more inclusive and more embracing”. Ostensibly to appease one of the factions, the truce meeting resolved that the Congress of the club should reverse the impeachment and suspension of the Acting National Chairman, Mr. Vincent Okumagba who was equally asked to “as soon as possible tender an Apology letter to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (Dr. Ladipo). The Communique of the truce meeting called at the instance of the NFF president Amaju Pinnick who believes Nigeria must present one house at the crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Uyo next month was signed by Dr. Ladipo, Mr. Okumagba and Bode Oyeyode, Acting Chairman of the NFF Reconciliation Committee.
